UK Virtual Account — Frequently asked questions

How do I open my UK Virtual Account?
Request your UK Virtual Account directly through the Airtm app. You must have completed identity verification first. Once created, you will receive your local UK banking credentials.

What banking details do I receive?
You will receive an 8-digit account number, a 6-digit sort code, and the beneficiary name Bridge Building SA. Share these details with whoever is sending you GBP.

Is my account unique?
Yes. Each user receives banking credentials linked to their own UK Virtual Account, allowing incoming deposits to be automatically identified and credited correctly.

Which currency can the account receive?
The account only accepts GBP (British pounds). Funds are automatically converted to USDC before being credited to your Airtm balance.

Does the sender need to include a reference or memo?
No. Each user has unique banking credentials, so deposits can be automatically identified without a specific reference.

Can a transfer be tracked?
Yes. Faster Payments transactions include tracking information that can be used to identify and investigate a payment. The sending bank may also provide a payment reference.

What should I do if my deposit has not arrived?
If more than 30 minutes have passed since the transfer was sent and the funds have not been credited, contact us through the chat icon in the app. The team will review the transaction using the available tracking information.

Can I send GBP from my UK Virtual Account?
No. The UK Virtual Account is designed to receive GBP only. The ability to send funds to a GBP bank account through Faster Payments is a separate feature.

Is this the same as Airtm's USD, EUR, or COP Virtual Accounts?
The concept is similar: Airtm provides local credentials to receive funds, which are then credited to your balance. The main difference is the currency and payment rail: the UK Virtual Account uses GBP through Faster Payments, while the others use USD (ACH/Wire/FedNow), EUR (SEPA), or COP (Bre-B).

What happens if someone sends a different currency?
The account is designed exclusively for GBP through supported payment rails. Payments in other currencies or through unsupported rails may be rejected or returned. Do not send EUR, USD, or other currencies using these banking details.
