How to receive MXN deposits in Airtm (CLABE)

Airtm users in Mexico can receive Mexican pesos (MXN) directly from any Mexican bank using a CLABE. When a deposit arrives via SPEI, the MXN is automatically converted to USDC and credited to your Airtm wallet.

How to activate your CLABE

1. Open Airtm and go to your Home screen.
2. Look for the option to activate your MXN virtual account.
3. If your identity hasn't been verified yet, you'll be redirected to complete that first.
4. Once approved, your CLABE will be assigned and ready to use.

Share your CLABE with whoever will be sending you MXN. They can transfer from any Mexican bank using SPEI.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a cost to open or maintain it?
No. Opening and maintaining your MXN virtual account is completely free. There are currently no fees for receiving deposits either.

What currency can I receive?
Only Mexican pesos (MXN). Do not send other currencies to this CLABE.

Is my CLABE shared with other users?
No. Each user receives their own static, unique CLABE linked exclusively to their Airtm account.

When does the deposit arrive?
Your account can receive SPEI transfers 24 hours a day, every day of the year. In most cases the credit is immediate. Delays can occasionally occur due to the sending bank, SPEI processing times, compliance reviews, or provider validations.

Are there deposit limits?
Yes, limits depend on who is sending:

• From your own account: up to MXN 1,000,000 per transaction.
• From a third-party individual: up to MXN 15,000 per transaction (this limit will increase over time).

Keep in mind that the sending bank may also apply its own limits for outgoing SPEI transfers.

Can I receive from someone else's account?
Yes. Your MXN account can receive transfers from your own accounts, from other individuals, and from companies.

What exchange rate applies?
The rate in effect at the moment the deposit is received and processed. If there's a gap between when you share your CLABE and when the sender actually transfers, the rate may differ from what you saw in the app.

Can I use this to send money via SPEI?
No. This feature is for receiving only. Sending via SPEI is already available separately in Airtm and doesn't require this feature.

Can I deactivate or delete my CLABE?
No. Once created, your CLABE stays active permanently.
