How does escrow work in P2P transactions?

Modified on Fri, 24 Apr at 4:53 PM

Airtm's escrow system makes peer-to-peer transactions secure, honest, traceable, and transparent. Airtm holds funds in escrow during the operation and, in case of a dispute, the mediation team steps in to ensure funds reach their rightful owner.

In an add funds transaction

  1. When a cashier accepts a deposit request, Airtm debits the USDC from the cashier's balance and holds them on behalf of the requesting user.
  2. Once the cashier receives the local currency transfer from the user, Airtm releases the USDC to the user's balance.
  3. The USDC are not released until the cashier confirms receipt of the transfer.

In a withdraw funds transaction

  1. When a cashier accepts a withdrawal request, Airtm debits the USDC from the requesting user's balance and holds them on behalf of the cashier.
  2. Once the user receives the local currency transfer from the cashier, Airtm releases the USDC to the cashier's balance.
  3. The USDC are not released until the user confirms receipt of the transfer.
